Ecrin Digital is an independent design and engineering studio founded in 2023 by Alexis Chân Gridel. We build Awwwards-level websites and iOS and Android apps for startups and businesses of all sizes, in custom code (Astro, Next.js, GSAP, Three.js, Sanity, React Native, Expo), delivered in your own repository.

Alexis is a creative developer and a member of the Awwwards Young Jury 2026. He leads every project personally, from the first call to launch, and brings in a small network of trusted specialists when a project needs them. Recent work includes Viewz, an AI-native finance platform, and Doodraw, an animated drawing app he co-founded, available on iOS, Android and Windows.
What is Ecrin Digital?
Ecrin Digital is a small, independent design and engineering studio. Alexis Chân Gridel founded it in 2023 and it has stayed deliberately small since. We take on a handful of projects a year, so the people who scope the work are the ones who design and ship it. Clients are usually B2B SaaS companies between Seed and Series B who need a site or a product that carries more weight than a template can, and who have an in-house team we work alongside rather than replace. We work in English and French, remotely, across Europe, Israel and North America.

Questions we get
before a project starts

Ecrin Digital projects start around €6,000 for a focused site and run to €20,000 for a full interactive build with custom 3D and motion. Long-running work goes through a monthly retainer, from €3,000. The range is wide because the cost sits in the interactive and 3D work, not in the page count.

We design and build two things. Interactive websites, usually with Three.js or React Three Fiber for real-time 3D and GSAP for motion, on Astro or Next.js. And mobile products in React Native and Expo, with native Swift and Metal modules when JavaScript runs out of room. Brand and design system work comes along with both.

Six to twelve weeks for most projects, from first call to launch. Scope moves that number less than you would expect. What moves it is content readiness and how many people need to sign off. A heavily custom 3D build at the top of the range can run longer, and we say so before you commit.

Ecrin Digital is a small team by choice. The people who scope your project are the ones who design and build it, so nothing gets translated through an account layer. The trade is capacity: we take a handful of projects a year. If you need forty people on a rollout, we are the wrong call.

Most of our clients are outside France. Ecrin Digital works remotely across Europe, Israel and North America, in English and French, and we are used to a four to nine hour time difference. Contracts and invoicing are in euros. Nothing about the process assumes anyone is in the same room.

Three.js is the WebGL library. React Three Fiber is a React renderer for it, so the same scene gets written as components with React state instead of imperative setup and teardown. We reach for React Three Fiber when the 3D sits inside a React app, and plain Three.js when the scene is standalone and needs the last bit of control.

Both. Most of the app is React Native and Expo, which is the right default. When something needs the GPU or a system API with no bridge, we drop into native Swift, write a Metal module and expose it back to the JavaScript side. That is usually where React Native work stops.

If you want us to stay, the engineering retainer covers maintenance, performance work, new sections and the interactive pieces your in-house team would rather not own. If you do not, we hand over a documented codebase and you carry on without us. Both are normal and neither costs you leverage.

We are a poor fit for template builds, price-led briefs and projects that need a large rollout team.
